After Joining the LWR (Lincolnshire Wolds Railway) you find little annoying things as your going about your duties.
This time it was the Bardic Lamp in the Signal box. It wasn’t fully original as the D Cell conversion had been done. But who buys batteries these days. There certainly wasn’t any in it or any to be found in the Box. So I brought it home knowing improvements can be made.
Left over from other projects I have a used 2 cell pack of 18650’s. This was a 3.7v pack meaning the cells are in parallel. This is perfect as the original battery’s were 4.5v so the 2 cell pack I have would be perfect even when fully charged.
I also have some left over TC4056 BMS boards from Meshtastic / MeshCore projects which would work well as a charging circuit with USB-C Input.
So now I have all the parts, I just needed a way of keeping them all together. This is where the new purchase of a 3d Printer comes in. Knocking up a quick design in Solid Edge (Community Edition) I started prototyping some designs. It took a few attempts to get right as I’m still new to all the settings and the different types of fillerment.
The end result is available to download here on my Thingiverse Page.
