The Shack

This is a list of my Current Amateur Radio Equipment. In the shack I currently have a limited amount of equipment with it being quite a small space. But what I do have works well enough to get me contacts in other countries on HF and local contacts through 2m and 70cm.

HF & VHF Radio Equipment

Yaesu FT-8800R

This was the first radio I bought for the shack. I did have another 2/70 radio, mentioned below, but because this didn’t have the ability to add names to memory channels then I felt I required something better for in the shack.

ATV Equipment

Solent ATV Transmitter with PA

Hamfest 2019 and I made another upgrade to my ATV Equipment.

I have now got myself a Solent ATV transmitter. This is an FM transmitter for the 23cm band but have a hight output power then the Comtech transmitter below.

As you can see this is a simple silver box with Audio and Video inputs on the side.

In the image above you can see the one modification I have made and this is to change the 5.7k pot to a 5k 10 turn pot. This allows you to more accurately tune the frequency of the transmitter while transmitting.

This transmitter has been matched up to a 18W PA which is then fed into my wimo Yagi on the mast.

The custom heat sink you can see may look a bit rough but work very well, keeping the PA at room temperature.

23cm Comtech ATV

At the 2018 National Hamfest I acquired a Comtech ATV transmitter fro 23cm. This come boxed with a 1W PA. This has been setup with a double quad antenna fixed to the outside of the house aimed at GB3VL. This is my first experiments with 23cm and I have a beam to install once a rotator has been acquired.

This is the transmitter as it arrived. As you can see it needed a good cleaning out.

This has now been repackaged into a smaller box with connections for a external cameras and audio

The antenna farm

This is my mast that is currently on the back of the house along with my satellite and Weather Sat receive antennas.

23cm Digital ATV Receive

Originally I had a Humax Satellite receiver to receive Digital ATV.
Some modification had to be done to disable the LNB voltage. See Here.

I have now got a Technomate TM-5200D Satellite receiver. This was bought on the recommendation from another ATV’er and has been my main DATV receiver since.

23cm / 10GHz Analogue ATV Receive

For analogue ATV I have an EchoStar LT-8700.

MiniTiouner V2

This is the Minitiouner that I built for receiving QO-100 and other DATV Signals. I will come in handy for receiving any other digital ATV Signal due to the very wide bandwidth. You can read up on the building of this project Here.

Mobile Equipment

TM-D700

This radio was acquired from a silent key sale of G1FLL. He was a member of the LSWC and also for about 23 years of my life was my neighbour over the road.

The TM-D700 is installed in my car as it has built in APRS capability while simultaneously being able to operate through the local repeaters.

Icom IC-207h

This was another radio I was given at the same time as the Kenwood TS-850s.
